What determine the life span of LED Screen

LED screen has a relatively long lifespan, But without proper use and maintenance, The screen would also break down very fast. So what is the main factors that determine the life span of LED Screen?

1: Selecting proper IP rating LED Screen for different location application.

Apart from the materials that are used in the led screen. The biggest factors in determining a led screen’s life  span is choosing the right IP rating LED Screen for different Location applications. Due to the different location application of the LED Screen, It can be separated into two different LED Screen category-indoor LED Screen and outdoor led screen. The indoor led screen is designed for indoor application which its IP rating is normally IP40, which means that the screen is not waterproof, or moisture proof. Hence the if the screen is used in outdoor application, the screen can easily break down when having rainy weather. There also have some special installation location, such as places near the sea which is heavy salt moisture and strong wind that easily to rust the electrical components, swimming pool which haschlorine moisture that easy to corrode plastic and electrical components, desert, high mountains and other places. It is usually OK to use a higher IP rank LED Screen for a mild environment. But using a low rank IP rating led screen in tougher environment would easily short the life span of LED Screen.

When we talk about the life span of the led screen, we normally would list the life span of the LED lamp. As the LED Screen is consisted by LED lamp, hence the life span of the led screen is highly related to the LED lamp. LED lamp would have slightly light decrease during lighted up.When we check the specs of the LED lamp, it is normal we would read the life span of the led lamp is 50000hours LM90B10, The LM90B10 means that after 50000 working hours, there still have 90% LED lamp with the light decrease of less than 10%. Normally most LED lamp would have 50000housr LM70B10. The Higher grade the led lamp is, the longer life span would the led screen be.

The most popular occurrences of led screen problem is dead led lamps, Though the led lamp is highly reliable in probability. But as a led screen is consisted by too many led lamps (from hundred thousand to over millions), hence dead lamp happens, and we need to do the maintenance.

3: Long time no operating.

LED screen is a delicate electronical equipment, It consists many electronic components. To making the led screen perform stable and normally, it should be operating from time to time. If you leave the led screen unused for a long time, it might be failure the next time you use it. The reason is that, It has moist in the air which would get inside the led screen, when it is operating, the led screen would generate a lot of heat which would keep the moist away. But when the screen is not operating for a long time, the moist would corrode the soldering that make the electronic components not connected well, which shorts the LED Screens life.

4: Materials that matters

The Led screen is complex composition of many different materials, The life span of the LED Screen is not determined by the longest life span materials but by the shortest life span materials. Hence even though the LED lamp has a long life span of 50000housr, if used a 1000hours power supplier, then this led screen’s life span is only 1000hours. 5:Heat dissipation

LED Screen would generate a lot of heat when operating, if the heat is not proper dissipated, The led lamp would show abnormal color first, and if the heat continue, the lamp would have permanent abnormal color output or even dead lamp. Sometimes it might even cause fire.

LED Screen is a wonderful tool for advertising and media use. But we also need to use and maintaining it properly, So that it can operate as its expected life span.
